Please be patient...Wish List

I am still coordinating the purchases for the wish list so that I can update the list...We have been quite busy with all this rain we are having and also with our rescue efforts! This weather brings in a great need in both areas. If you have purchased anything in support of the wish list..please let me know so that I may adjust the list accordingly. I am hoping to have the list posted this weekend...

On another note...we are still collecting blankets, sheets and towels for our area shelters. Although our friends are protected in a shelter, the concrete floor is awful cold during this time...and will be getting colder. Please consider cleaning out your linen closet to make room for your incoming holiday gifts!

Corinthian would like to thank everyone for their support!

With just 9 days to go, the 5th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet! On October 29, nearly 2,000 dog lovers and their dogs will walk the scenic 1.5 mile loop in FDR Park to raise funds and awareness for Philadelphia's homeless animals. Registration opens at 9am, start strutting at 11am! To register, click here.

We are thrilled to welcome WMMR DJs Steve Morrison, Matt Cord, Pierre Robert, Jaxon, and Markus Goldman as Masters of Ceremonies!

Meet your new best friend: Dozens of PAWS dogs will be there to strut their stuff and find loving homes. Plus, for the first time, cats will be attending! Our Mobile Adoption Unit will be there with plenty of adoptable felines waiting inside.

It's More than a Dog Walk! Enjoy a variety of fun activities for 2-legged and 4-legged participants alike: dog obstacle course, costume contest, pet portraits, training tips, ask the vet, microchipping, grooming, and much more! Plus, a full lineup of gourmet food trucks will be on-hand to offer sandwiches, pizza, cupcakes, coffee, and other goodies.

ACCT and PAWS need HELP! URGENT!!

This is an urgent plea on behalf of hundreds of homeless dogs, cats, and kittens in Philadelphia whose lives are in danger NOW. Fosters and adopters are needed immediately to save them, and to make room for the nearly 100 animals that are pouring into the city’s animal control shelter every day. Adoption or foster care is their only way out.

Please go to ACCT, or come to PAWS, open your home to an animal who desperately needs you, and ask others to do the same. Please do not wait.

Dogs: You can adopt a dog permanently or provide a temporary foster home and help the dog find a loving adopter. There are dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and conditions, and you will get help finding a good match.

Cats/Kittens: Kittens typically require a 2-8 week temporary foster home to grow to an adoptable age. There are orphaned litters and those with mothers. If you wish, PAWS can take the mother into one of our facilities for adoption once the kittens find permanent homes.

ADOPT a cat or dog:
  • from PAWS’ Adoption Center, on the corner of 2nd & Arch Streets.
Visit http://cts.vresp.com/c/?PAWSPhiladelphiaAnim/a0e27d264f/ab1915a399/5ba4687b7b for the full list of adoptable animals and a printable application you can complete in advance.
    Hours: Monday-Friday, 12-7 pm, Saturday, 11-7, and Sunday, 11-6. Phone: 215-238-9901, ext. 30.

  • From ACCT. Adoption hours are: Monday through Friday, 1-8 pm, Saturday and Sunday: 12-5 pm.

FOSTER a dog, cat or litter of kittens:
  • directly from ACCT (111 W. Hunting Park Avenue)
The variety of animals there is large and ever-changing, and staff and volunteers are stretched thin, so please go directly to the shelter rather than calling or emailing in advance.
Foster hours: 9am to 6pm, seven days a week, or by appointment (contact
    nsmith@pspca.org or jsweeney@pspca.org)

  • from PAWS’ Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic (2900 Grays Ferry Avenue)
Foster hours: 10am to 6pm, seven days a week, or by appointment.
For dogs, contact johnny@phillypaws.org. For cats, contact mailto:sue@phillypaws.org. Phone: 215-298-9680.

Both organizations will match you with an animal that fits your household, lifestyle, and experience, and will provide spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and basic veterinary care. Starter food and supplies may also be available. Foster parents are responsible for finding homes for their fosters, and both organizations assist by providing adoption opportunities through special events, online listings, and help with screening potential adopters.
PAWS can only rescue as many animals as we have space for, so every person who fosters or adopts enables us to rescue another pet whose life is in danger. Whether you rescue from PAWS or ACCT, you’ll be saving double the number of lives: the animal(s) you take into safety, and the ones who will get the limited shelter space.

HAGGAR :)

Haggar - MD - baby, male - needs foster or adoption asap

Isn't he just too cute? Haggar was found as a stray in Maryland, believe it or not. His tail is docked and his ears are cropped - unfortunately they are a bit uneven because it looks like someone cut them at home. Haggar has a little bit of an off gate which may just be due to poor nutrition in his early stages as it has been improving since he has been getting fed properly. Haggar is as sweet as he looks and about 4 months old. He is need of a foster or adoptive home as soon as possible.
