Please go to ACCT, or come to PAWS, open your home to an animal who desperately needs you, and ask others to do the same. Please do not wait.
Dogs: You can adopt a dog permanently or provide a temporary foster home and help the dog find a loving adopter. There are dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and conditions, and you will get help finding a good match.
Cats/Kittens: Kittens typically require a 2-8 week temporary foster home to grow to an adoptable age. There are orphaned litters and those with mothers. If you wish, PAWS can take the mother into one of our facilities for adoption once the kittens find permanent homes.
ADOPT a cat or dog:
- from PAWS’ Adoption Center, on the corner of 2nd & Arch Streets.
Visit http://cts.vresp.com/c/?PAWSPhiladelphiaAnim/a0e27d264f/ab1915a399/5ba4687b7b for the full list of adoptable animals and a printable application you can complete in advance.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 12-7 pm, Saturday, 11-7, and Sunday, 11-6. Phone: 215-238-9901, ext. 30.
- From ACCT. Adoption hours are: Monday through Friday, 1-8 pm, Saturday and Sunday: 12-5 pm.
FOSTER a dog, cat or litter of kittens:
- directly from ACCT (111 W. Hunting Park Avenue)
The variety of animals there is large and ever-changing, and staff and volunteers are stretched thin, so please go directly to the shelter rather than calling or emailing in advance.
Foster hours: 9am to 6pm, seven days a week, or by appointment (contact nsmith@pspca.org or jsweeney@pspca.org)
- from PAWS’ Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic (2900 Grays Ferry Avenue)
Foster hours: 10am to 6pm, seven days a week, or by appointment.
For dogs, contact johnny@phillypaws.org. For cats, contact mailto:sue@phillypaws.org. Phone: 215-298-9680.
Both organizations will match you with an animal that fits your household, lifestyle, and experience, and will provide spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and basic veterinary care. Starter food and supplies may also be available. Foster parents are responsible for finding homes for their fosters, and both organizations assist by providing adoption opportunities through special events, online listings, and help with screening potential adopters.
